Objectives and Goals

Law 300 of 1996, Article 42 created the Tourism Promotion Fund as an instrument to manage resources from Parafiscal Contributions for the promotion of tourism; in turn, Decree 505 of 1997, Article 12 conferred the legal status of special account on the Fund, as an autonomous patrimony, whose resources are only intended for the implementation of tourism promotion and marketing plans, as well as, strengthening and improving competitiveness in the tourism sector to increase both receptive and local tourism.


FONTUR’s Autonomous Patrimony supports the tourism sector in achieving the goal of seeking to generate 300,000 new jobs and US$6,000 million in foreign currency, by implementing the tourism policy to position Colombia as a sustainable tourism destination, known by its multicultural and megadiverse offer evidenced in highly-competitive products and services that empower the regions towards peace building.
